Not everyone likes the plethora of photos – and Facebook tagging – that occurs on social media at this time of year.
But, given it is a time of year to be thankful, perhaps we can all be grateful that none of our familysnaps could turn out quite as awkward as these.
Sometimes it is just the addition of a prop which sets the whole Christmas image alight – an automatic weapon, a giant snake, some nudity.
You get the picture.
Last year, The Mirror revealed a family who struck internet gold with what has to be the tackiest and most unpolitically correct card of the year so far.
The photo was the brainchild of model Natalie Yoshida who, along with her sister Rachel and their mother, is pictured wearing t-shirts with “HO” emblazoned on in bright orange letters.
The father of the Florida family has a shirt that says, “Chillin’ with my hos.”
Natalie included the caption: “My family’s xmas photo dis year. Disclaimer: this was my idea I want the credit bc it’s damn good”
Speaking to Buzzfeed News about whether it was hard to convince her family to take part, Natalie said: “My mom agreed immediately. My dad never actually agreed or disagreed. He’s a great sport.”
“All of our immediate friends understand our humour so they think it’s hilarious. Not one person who knows us in real life has ‘hated’. Everyone who is ‘hating’ is seeking offence in an obvious joke.”
One commenter on Reddit was less than enthused by the image, saying: “Am I the only one creeped out by him calling his daughters his ‘Ho’?”
Another replied: “The implication that his wife and daughters are whores is pretty strange.”
However, the overall reaction has been fairly positive. What’s your view?
